don't forget...

i picked these cushions up this week. i love the natural colour of them both.
the top one was advertised in last month's Real Living magazine. Only $10 from K-Mart.
the bottom one was an op shop find and looks great with my other daybed cushions. love those little wooden buttons too.

i will be drawing a GIVEAWAY winner this weekend. you can enter by leaving a comment on my giveaway post here. the odds are looking pretty good, so why not?!

tea anyone?

here's my finished project with the cute castors! i have wanted an old tea trolley for years. i have bid on them on eBay a few times and missed out.
so when i spied this one in the corner of someone's shed, i asked the price and it came home with me. (at a very good price i might add :)

here's how sad and sorry she was when i bought her home!
she was pretty battered and worn, and you can still see her 'scars' through the paint, but i like it that way.

oh there are the castors again. sigh. love them.
they are so wobbly and rickety, but that makes me love them more.

the timber handle is missing from one end but that doesn't matter.
it all adds to her vintage charm.

i was surprised on Friday afternoon with these beautiful soft pink roses.
don't they look gorgeous in my old jars?

the trolley is going to be used for our little cockatiel's Cherry and Keira.
the base can house their food, toys, etc. all hidden nicely in that rustic basket.

oh there are those 'to die for' rusty old castors again :))

hello rusty lovelies.
yes i know i'm a little loopy when it comes to vintage ;)

i took a couple of pics of my roses early this morning too.

now i just need to learn how to grow my own....

i am listing a few lovely pieces on eBay today.
here's a couple of pretties that are going up for auction.

there are some other pieces that i painted up recently and blogged about that are for sale too.
just click on m eBay button to the right of my page to take you there.

i've had some questions about the paint that i use. i prefer Dulux paints and buy it straight off the shelf. no 'colour' mixed in at all. just white low sheen.
if i don't want a stark white finish, i opt for 'Antique White USA' by Dulux also.
i then seal my pieces with Porter's Sealer which never 'yellows'.
hope that is of some help to the painter's out there!
happy Monday

bathroom cabinet

i have been busy this weekend painting up a couple more pieces from the stash i bought 2 weeks ago.
i have been on the lookout for a cute cabinet for the bathroom for a while, so was happy to come across this little timber one.
it's perfect for holding all your pretty things, as well as having a drawer and a couple of hidden shelves for the practical stuff.

the blackboard can be used to leave little messages for your loved ones.
a mirror could always be glued in too.

the stark white shelves frame a display so nicely.
i'm hoping to get it hung in our ensuite this afternoon.

i love the shape of it

cabinet before....

a sneak peek of another piece i hope to get finished before the end of the week.
i'll be back to show it off soon :)
and don't forget to enter my giveaway!! just head to the post under this one

ONE LINE A DAY giveaway!!!!!!

good morning!
i have decided it's time for my first giveaway!!
i wanted to have something really special to offer, as i am so thankful to all those who have come along for the ride!
my aim was to have 50 followers by the end of the year, so i am blown away to have 73 lovely followers by March!!!

so here it is.
ONE LINE A DAY
a five year memory book.
for starters, is the cover colour stunning or what?!

i purchased one for myself too.
i love the thought of keeping a diary, and have done so in the past, but the thought of writing paragraph after paragraph puts me off.
so this little book is perfect!

as you can see, you have a few lines for each day. and every year over five years, you can look back and see what you were up to at to on that same day.
(these photos were taken from my book. you will receive one that hasn't been opened!)

gorgeous gold edging and gold writing on the front and spine.

this is just inside the front cover.

all in all a very practical, functional and gorgeous looking little number!

all you have to do is become a follower of my blog, (if you aren't already) leave a comment and you'll have the chance of receiving this cutie in the mail.
i'll post anywhere too!

have a great weekend. i'll draw the winner next weekend!

the 1st weekend of Autumn

welcome to Autumn!
i thought i'd greet you with a happy pic of my stack of tablecloths and vintage sheets that i use for tablecloths.
we're 6 days into the new season, and the weather has finally felt a little "Autumny" today. well, at least until about 9am anyway! i was up and off to the markets this morning, and didn't even think to take a cardii as it has been sooo hot lately. well i certainly regretted that. it was chilly to say the least. we made our coffee stop quite a lot earlier to escape the chill.

i changed around some of our furniture yesterday. our sweet pair of cockatiels have not been treating my lovely cream couch very well, so i needed to move it elsewhere. so, it has traded places with my 2 ikea bookshelves.

to fit the lounge into the formal dining room, we had to turn the table sideways. surprisingly, it fit and makes the room feel a lot bigger too! i just can't put chairs on the ends of the table.
the cockatiels live just to the left of the bookcases. i'm really enjoying having all these pretties on display, rather than tucked around the corner.
i think i will enjoy my coffee breaks alot more looking out this window. it is such a light and bright room, and just gorgeous in winter.
here are 3 of the pieces i purchased last weekend. they are drying off in the sunshine before i attack them with sandpaper and sealer.
while outside painting away, i spotted this stunning butterfly. i ran in and grabbed the camera to try and get a good up close pic. it was a bit difficult to capture it's true colours.
i just love butterflies :)
if it had landed here, it would've made a prettier background!

only a handful of finds from this morning: little lidded jar for cotton balls, milk glass vase to add to my collection, lovely black chunky beads, pink lustre thingy (i don't normally go for lustred things, but couldn't leave this one behind :) and a glass door knob.....

perfect for my old door!!!!

and here are my finished pieces. i did some 'shopping' around my home (i learned that term from some of you bloggers out there :) for some props to compliment my pics.
half moon table.

before....

cute stool.
sanded back to reveal a little of the original green paint.

before....

and this scrolly edged side table.

i'll be keeping this one for a while i think!

before....
there's still plenty of the day left, so we are off to do coffee and milkshakes.
happy day to you too :)
