basket of goodies
i was up early an decided to visit a Salvos church garage sale and school fete. i ended up with a lovely basket of vintage loot! white basket 50c, gorgeous fabrics 50c each, sweet little crochet bag, little pottery basket to add to my every growing collection $1, yummy hand crocheted tablecloth $3 and round basket $1! i must say, i'm a sucker for anything crocheted or rosey! can you tell?!
i think the tablecloth looks right at home on my coffee table against the linen lounge covers.
it has been the most beautiful Winters day here in Brisbane, topping 27 degrees. so lovely to have to pull out some light Summer clothing. i managed to get all our flannellette sheets washed and sun dried and packed away until next Winter. Pin It

pretty bags all in a row
in just over a week, my baby will be turning 12. she has been counting down the days for about the last 6 months! she decided on a bowling party that she'll have with 5 friends and little sis.
party bags have become a very important part of the birthday preparations over the years, and i must say it's kinda my fault! i love working around a theme or colour, and making them almost like a gift for the party attenders. this year, Emily and i decided to actually make the bags ourselves. so out came the sewing machine and girly fabrics and away we went. both Emily and Kacey chose the fabric for theirs bags, and then fabric was carefully selected for each friend. they have been stuffed with a few goodies, and Em made little name tags using some of my Cath Kidston sticky labels. we are quite proud of our efforts!
i have also popped a pic in of my gorgeous ones from Dec 2009. this was taken in Sydney by my talented brother while out on his boat. my next project is to collate a few of these natural shots (in black and white) and display them in an old chippy window frame. i'll let you know how it turns out :)

an early start
well here goes, my 1st ever post! what better to start with than to fill you in on my regular trip to the Sunday local markets. just a quick 5 minute drive and i'm there. it really is the highlight of my week! i'm there by 6:20am- earlier in Summer though. it's still dark at 6am this time of year, so i figure there's no use being there at that time when i can't see what's on the tables and in the boxes!
i usually meet up with a good friend of mine, where we do one round, head off for our coffee stop, then mosey back for another one or two rounds in case we've missed something! it's amazing what we find 2nd and 3rd time round. i didn't find alot this morning, but came across this sweet little white wicker basket for $2. and you can just never have too many baskets. it will end up filled with stationary or my girls textas i would guess. a few stalls up from there were the pair of crystal napkin rings. now they made my heart skip a beat or 2! i found them in the bottom of a glass jug. $3 for the pair. the pretty pink chenille type fabric will meet up with my huge stash of pink and rosey fabrics, and may one day end up in a quilt. it was $2. the canvas Witchery slipons will get a beating- hardly used and a tiny $1! and i can never walk past the stall of strawberries. how perfect do these look?! my eldest daughter has already popped some into her morning smoothie.
i hope you enjoy your Sunday too :) Kate
