goings on & a new family member

well hello there lovelies ;) i must apologise for the lack of posting lately. it's all happening here and i don't seem to have myself together of late! here is a pic of my pretty pink birthday roses- all dried out, but still so pretty.

my latest project. almost finished. will be back soon to show you the finished product.

and so we have a new little teeny tiny family member! little "Tilly" joined our family yesterday. a very belated birthday pressie for Kacey. she is totally in love!

the plan is to take a pic on the same day every month to see how much she has grown. here she is next to a matchbox, which we could have easily put her in! she's the cutest thing!

i tried to get a pic of her running for the water, but she was in before i could snap!

next project- a huge old school desk. complete with ink wells and slate holders. it's going to be painted gloss red for my client! can't wait to see how it turns out.

My Birthday & Mothers Day

i've had a busy few days having fun celebrating both my birthday and my 14th Mothers Day. my lovely neighbour surprised me with this gorgeous bunch of pink roses.

I was welcomed by Kacey's "balloon card" on Thursday morning before having to head off to work,

as well as some pretty blackboard art done by Emily.

after work and school, we came home, got dolled up, picked up my Dad and Rhonda from the airport and headed out to dinner.

after my usual stroll around the markets, i came home to a cuppa and pressies. My girls are so thoughtful and always put alot of effort into their gifts for others.

my new perfume :)

we enjoyed a leisurely Mother Day lunch overlooking one of my favourite beaches. just the 4 of us.great food, iced chocolate, milkshake,

and of course a glass of bubbles for Mum!

the perfect weather meant we could have a late afternoon beach walk

and watch the sun go down.

i shouldn't be trusted with power tools!

well we have thoroughly enjoyed another Public holiday up here in super sunshiny Brisbane. the weather has been absolutely stunning! i took the opportunity to drag these tables outside, and belt sanded and sealed them ready to be returned to the school i'm doing some painting for.

so i'm having lots of fun using my new sander, but then realise i'm sanding into the actual cord! whoopsie!!

oh the look i got from the husband!! he quickly got out some electrical tape and fixed her up! i so should not be trusted to use power tools!!

power tool fixed, and husband watching closely to make sure i sand the table and ONLY the table lol!

you can see the great repair job done with nice yellow tape haha.

the tables are finished and have already been tied into the trailer ready for delivery.

my shoulders and neck aren't real fans of the many hours i put into sanding and painting.

so i often end up here in a hot bubble bath :)

playing around with my new camera!

 happy Friday to you lovelies! how good does it feel when Friday rolls around :) well i've spent the best part of this morning playing around with my early birthday present! yep here i am in all my glory. a total no makeup, haven't done the hair, wearing slippers when i do the drop off in my paint clothes type of morning. and the girls were a little late for school because they had to try out the new camera too!

so i hopped happily about the house clicking and snapping. and on auto focus, my new best friend did the rest.

i have been a total iPhone photo taker. up. until. today. i must say i've been impressed with my phone's pics, but boy, i so didn't realise how much i was missing until i got my hands on this camera!

i can't wait to learn how to really use this baby ;)

so it's a day at home for me today. music cranked to help me get through the ironing pile and housework.

nothing like the promise of interstate visitors to get me moving!

so i'm a happy real camera owner now! hopefully it will help me forget that i'll be a whole year older next week!!

cupboard revamp- inside & out!

good morning! it's a Public Holiday here in Australia, so we are all at home taking it easy. so nice to have a breather mid week! i have started off the day with a quick sewing project. this cupboard was a road side find many years ago. you may remember it left my laundry some time ago and came to live out here in the family room.

last year, the handy husband helped me organise the inside with a few shelves.

before the shelves were installed, here's how it looked! it was a home for whatever i felt like throwing in there.

a few pieces of MDF cut to size.....

had it looking much better!

and now it's home to all my sewing needs and my stack of tablecloths. anyway, back to the pretty outside! so it was a simple sew each side of the rectangle piece of fabric, add pockets top and bottom and attach inside the cupboard door with these hook and eye thingos.

our sweet hand reared cockatiels live to the left of this cupboard, so now they have some more birdy friends to chat to.

a stroll thru life

a POP of colour!

well the start to another week is here already! thankfully Wednesday is a public holiday so this week will be just that little bit easier to get through! the sun is shining and my white lounge covers are soaking. i got thinking over the weekend that i needed to add a few pops of colour here and there to my very white/neutral colour scheme. this frame was originally antique white against and antique white wall and decided it was time for a change.

i have been very slack of late and haven't been updating our blackboards with inspiring quotes as much as i'd like to. this is one a grabbed off Pinterest this morning. even if i did write it up crooked!

i threw in some blue bottles to my usual "ALL WHITE" decorated hutch.

i showed you the green 'suitcase come table' a little while ago. well i've turned it up on it's side and used it as a display table under an old window frame.

a pile of mags and books topped with pretties. my phone hides behind :)

so there you have it. i have finally found something to paint up in that awesome aqua!
