antique white trolley

the school holidays are finally here and we are all breathing
a sigh of relief! it's been a long and busy term, and the last few weeks
have been very cold. it's great to have a break from lunchboxes
and early starts.
here is another trolley i completed this week.
painted in Antique White USA.
a friend gave me the jug and matching bowl this morning.

this is the third trolley i have painted, and seeing i'm holding onto
the other 2, this one will definitely have to go!
i made these cute cushions out of some old pillowcases.
whipped them up in a matter of minutes.
kept the envelope opening, so only had to sew a straight line up the other end.
my kind of sewing :)
here she is all ready for a new home.

before....
no painting happening today. too much housework to catch up on!

a french farmhouse look?

here are a few things of the things i painted on Sunday.
they got a coat of white paint with a brush and then i rubbed
it off slightly with a rag.
the timber top on this table was such a lovely colour i didn't want to cover it up.
i almost left it as is, but decided to rub the smallest amount of paint over some of it.
i resisted sanding the edges back (which i do on most pieces)
and here's the result.
the rolling pin and tray took only a couple of minutes each to makeover.

this magazine holder now has a whitewashed look to it.
i was thinking it could also be used to hold children's books, or a child's
collection of art.
you can see what these pieces looked like in the post before this one.
Mike and i are off on a 'date' day today while the girls are at school!
coffee, lunch, shopping, uninterrupted conversation....
can't wait!

early morning finds

some of my finds from this morning!
up and out the door by 6am, and a chilly 5*C!!!
i had all my layers ready for a quick "getting dressed" session i tell you!

the wicker heart above will get transformed into a shabby raggy heart with some
fabric strips.

gorgeous cobalt blue tea light holders
pretty tray on feet that will look better painted
another tea light holder to hang in the bathroom
for candle lit baths :)
some fun jewelry to add to my fast growing collection
HUGE cut glass ash tray for $1!
i love using them to hold and separate my jewelry
more pieces to paint!
i hope to get these done during the week.
the sun is shining, so there will be lots of painting going on today!

shabby RETRO table

i finished painting this little retro style table yesterday,
and gave it a light sand.
such a functional piece that could be used at the end of a bed,
as a side table or coffee table.
the wicker inlay is strong and sturdy and perfect for holding
a few more books or magazines.

i love wicker, and just dabbed white paint over it so that a little of the
original colour could still peek through.
i am liking how it looks in our bedroom and it can stay here for now.
not that i really have the room for it!

before....
i've already been out today and dropped one daughter at a party,
picked up a pink filing cabinet i won on eBay, had a rare coffee out with my husband,
and have the 2nd daughter to pickup from her party soon! they SO have
a better social life than their parents!!
and, i'm making the most of the
windy but very sunny weather we have by washing white couch covers!

vintage trolley

i finished this vintage trolley yesterday.
all painted up in french grey.
and it has cute castors too :)
i had all intentions of selling it, but once i put it in this corner
i decided it had to stay.
i love these old doilies, and pick them up at op shops
whenever i come across them.

painted this candelabra up too.
you can see what it look liked before here.

trolley before......
i have another trolley to do up, and have almost finished a retro style
coffee table that i will show you soon!

pink drawer dresser

i painted this dresser up on Sunday tucked up in our garage due to chilly wet weather.
a friend wanted to get rid of it so it ended up at my place.
i love the rounded top drawers and decided that painting the drawers pink
would help them stand out even more.
there's just something about soft pinks.
how gorgeous would this look in a little girls room.
i think it would also be perfect in a lolly shop too! the pink and white
reminds me of candy :)
i could just see it lined with glass jars that were filled with
candy hearts and musk sticks....
i dabbed a little white paint on the drawer handles for a soft
contrast against the drawers.

before....
the sunshine is back so
i'm off to paint up a couple of cute trolleys i got my hands on recently!
