a shabby box, a new cloche & a winner

i don't usually do garage sales, but i'll always visit one put on by a Church.
you never know what you might find.
i could have bought more, but am seriously trying to declutter.
i did purchase some books for my girls and this great old pink shabby box!
i love the colour and all that rusty metal ware.
who knows what i'll use it for, but for $1 it doesn't really matter!
when i got home, i saw this written on the inside.
'Jaimiee's treasure Box'
oh bless!

well now it's Kate's Treasure Box ;)

i also treated myself this week to a new glass 'French Country' cloche.
it was on a ridiculous special and such a nice size.
the hard part is deciding where it will live,
and what will live under it.
i am going to visit a fete up the road later today,
as well as a car boot sale straight after my market trawl tomorrow morning.

hopefully there are more treasures waiting for me!
oh and the winner of my giveaway is a local gal this time!
the winner is dabeier68!
enjoy the weekend everyone ;)

hello my lovelies :)
today is my 1st anniversary since the start of my blog!!
very exciting!
can't hardly believe i have 172 fabulous followers!
i just wish i could meet you all!!
this stunning vase arrived in the mail today. i won it on eBay. it's the biggest
milk glass piece i own to date! i adore the hankerchief/ruffled top and hobnail design.

i want to have to have a little giveaway to celebrate!
i'm not giving away my vase (ha ha) but would like to giveaway these two things below to someone :)

1. :i have made this cute little bunting out of recycled paper,
laminated it and tied it together with natural twine.
it's 1.85m from flag to flag.
2. : this sweet pink "create" sign. prop it up against a shelf or hang on a wall.
so, if you are one of my wonderful followers, or want to become one, leave a comment
and you're in the draw!!
i have lots listed on eBay. click on my eBay button to see what's there!

market finds, laundry ideas & a WINNER!

good morning!
i thought i'd start with a little laundry inspiration.
i've been having lots of fun on Pinterest making my own boards and found some lovely laundry images. it then dawned on me me that it was time for a bit of a change up in my laundry!
i tried loading these gorgeous images onto my post, but couldn't work out how to do it. i will...... in due time. i'm not very technically savvy to say the least!
here are a few things that i will base my laundry decor around.
*Granny's well weathered and loved basket
* 2 'steadysticks' metal baskets
*an old shabby and chippy sideboard

the top had seen better days, so Mike replaced it for me yesterday.
he also cleaned it out and sanded it all down. aww :))
i then scrubbed it with jif, rubbed white paint over the new pine top and sanded it.
(just for something different lol!!)
i had planned to repaint the whole thing, but decided to stick with the original paint job
and add a nice big chunky glass knob ;)

it's been in the outdoor area for ages,
and i wasn't sure what i'd do with it until yesterday!
it was an eBay find- i was outbid at the last second, then a few weeks later was contacted by the seller as it hadn't been picked up!
and i just had to have it. now i know why!
it was destined for my laundry- fits perfectly!
i will show full pics once the laundry is all done :)

now, i think i have the smallest ever made laundry.
it's teeny tiny.

here you can see my lovely old wardrobe that hides all the laundry mess.
it was a free council roadside pickup.
Mike stripped it back and painted it for me.
i them made the fabric curtain. as pretty as it is in here, i wanted to replace it with something that would make the laundry feel a bit bigger than it is. (if that's at all possible)
oh, and the mess on top of the washing machine? left by the girls who were cleaning out their fishbowls....grrrr

so, the plan is to head to Ikea tomorrow and look for shelving, tin pots and some faux greenery
and i'll be back with a made over laundry room soon!
and now, onto some market finds from today!
lovely old champagne bucket $5
glass bird and fine porcelain bunny $5 for the pair
gorgeous blue Portman's top $5
oh and a $2 shelf that will probably go and live in the laundry too.
it got one coat of paint and a sand. i'm really liking the 'whitewash' look at the moment.
shelf before....
now that i've raved on about laundry stuff and market stuff,
it's time to announce the winner of my giveaway!
BABE O'MARA!!!

congratulations to one of my newest followers!
please contact me with your details so i can post off your goodies this week!
have a great week everyone!

10 minute candlestick makeover and a WINNER!!

i picked these lovely candlesticks up from an op shop yesterday. i have been wanting to paint up my own set, and have a feeling these may have been made in a wood work class at school? they seem very 'handmade' and solid.

the rain has set in for the weekend, so best i don't get stuck into any large painting projects!
it's very overcast, so the photos aren't the best.
i made up a table runner with a curtain. just folded it in thirds. that way i can use it as a tablecloth too.
i didn't want a thick painted look, so smeared the paint on with an old washer.
i rubbed it into all the grooves as best i could,
not worrying about missing a bit here and there.

it turned out to be quite a messy task!

there goes the nails!!
i wanted the timber colour to show through, so rubbed off some of the paint with the dry end of the washer.

and here's the result!
i love how they have turned out.
they compliment my dining room perfectly!

before....
and the WINNER of the five year memory book is
Erica!!!!
please send your contact details to
mlewisd@bigpond.net.au
so i can get your parcel in the post!!
Congratulations!
thankyou to all of you who entered :)
enjoy your weekend
